‘Blickling Buzzards’ woodblock print, printed directly from the woodblock carved during my week long artist residency at the Norwich Printing Museum, in it’s temporary home on the grounds of Blickling Hall, Norfolk.
This was my first new woodblock for over a year. With words from Tolkien’s wedding poem for his wife carved into the border, and featuring a pair of Buzzards who mate for life, the print celebrates love, safety, freedom and is both representative of both my own new studio ‘The Eyrie’ and a nod to my time at the Printing Museum.
This edition, the third to come from this woodblock, is printed in black ink on Canson Mi Tientes pastel paper in the colour ‘Sand’ - a beautiful warm neutral green which changes from a soft grey to a warm golden khaki depending on the light.
This edition is a limited run of 50 prints, printed in my own studio ‘The Eyrie’ in Norwich, on my large book press. Each print is checked, signed and numbered by myself. Prints will arrive rolled in tissue paper in sturdy cardboard tubes.
