‘Blickling Buzzards’ woodblock print, printed directly from the woodblock carved during my week long artist residency at the Norwich Printing Museum, in it’s temporary home on the grounds of Blickling Hall, Norfolk.

This is my first new woodblock for over a year. With words from Tolkien’s wedding poem for his wife carved into the border, and featuring a pair of Buzzards who mate for life, the print celebrates love, safety, freedom and is both representative of both my own new studio ‘The Eyrie’ and a nod to my time at the Printing Museum.

This edition, the second to come from this woodblock, is printed on Fabriano Unica Crema paper, in a hand mixed deep reddy brown inspired by the warm plumage of the buzzards, the red brick of Blickling, and the turning leaves at this time of year. The print will look different depending on the light, changing from burgundy in direct daylight to almost black-brown in the evenings depending where displayed.

This edition is printed in my own studio ‘The Eyrie’ in Norwich, on my large book press. Each print is checked, signed and numbered by myself. Prints will arrive rolled in tissue paper in sturdy cardboard tubes.

As this is a PRE-SALE, the full edition will be printed after the release and the number of prints will depend on the number of sales. All prints will be processed, packaged and sent no later than the end of November, so will be safe to arrive well in time for Christmas gifts.
